Welcome to the Sitesafe AM Tower Screening tool!

The antenna structures of wireless sites can alter the antenna radiation patterns of nearby AM broadcast stations. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires that at the time of construction, wireless operators demonstrate that their site(s) do not adversely affect the patterns of nearby AM stations. The FCC mandated zone of required protection is a radius of 1 kilometer for AM stations using non-directional antennas (single AM towers), or a radius of 3 kilometers for AM stations using directional antennas (multiple AM towers).

In order to ease the "AM Screening" process, Sitesafe has created this free screening service. Accessing data from the FCC's AM database, this screening service displays any and all AM stations within a 3.2 kilometer radius of the entered coordinates. This is especially useful in eliminating any sites which do not have any AM issues whatsoever, allowing you to focus solely on your prospective sites that do have AM issues. This database is updated weekly from the FCC. Because we rely solely on the FCC's databases, Sitesafe can not assure accuracy of the data you are about to receive. Sitesafe makes absolutely no warranty, accuracy, statement or claim as to the accuracy, fitness of use, content, repeatability, purpose of use, completeness, timeliness or application of this data.

It must be stated that this service accesses public records and should not be used as the final say in matters of site screening. Because of coordinate conversion, slight changes in tower location and inaccuracies in the FCC's AM databases, we encourage you to further study any site within 1.2 km of a non-directional AM station and 3.2 km of a directional AM. In addition, we recommend that you double check results that you receive that show your prospective site as having AM issues. This will allow you to be sure of whether or not any AM issues do actually exist.
